RENTON -- Seahawks strong safety Kam Chancellor was named NFC defensive player of the week on Wednesday after returning to the field for the first time in a month in Seattle's 31-24 victory over the New England Patriots Sunday.
According to teammate Richard Sherman, the 28-year-old Chancellor had a leg -- or two -- up on the rest of his teammates in vying for the honor.
"He came out there with fresh legs," Sherman joked with reporters at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center on Wednesday before getting serious. "It's incredibly impressive, but it's a testament to his preparation, his dedication.
