Guard Evan Mathis spurns cash-strapped Seahawks, signs with Broncos

Turns out, having a group of highly-paid stars does have a downside.

The Seattle Seahawks were paid a visit over the weekend from guard Evan Mathis, but Mathis agreed Tuesday to a one-year deal with the Denver Broncos worth a maximum of $4 million if he meets incentives, according to multiple reports.

Evan Mathis’ deal with Denver worth a max of $4m. Source said he an offer for up to $5.5m (his deal in Philly) but opted for a contender.

That price was simply too high for Seattle, which has slightly less than $5 million in salary cap room for 2015, according to overthecap.
