BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Bruce Irvin said recently that he felt the Seattle Seahawks' scheme limited him in some ways.
Irvin wants to get after the passer first and foremost. In Seattle, he was asked to play a number of different roles, including dropping back into coverage. Irvin was the team's starting SAM linebacker in base and moved to right defensive end in nickel.
"We did a lot of things with Bruce," Pete Carroll said at the owners' meetings. "He played the SAM backer spot for us and also rushed on third down for us.
