Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette wondered if he was going to die on the field after suffering the hit that ended his five-year NFL career.
In an essay published by The Players' Tribune on Tuesday, the 30-year-old Lockette wrote about how it felt to lie helpless on the turf of Cowboys Stadium on Nov. 1, 2015, after a high block from Dallas safety Jeff Heath on kickoff coverage left him with severe cartilage and ligament damage in his neck.
"In that moment, I was completely helpless. You know what it felt like? Have you ever experienced sleep paralysis?
