Former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver will announce his retirement during a Thursday press conference.
On Wednesday, the team announced a 1 p.m. Pacific press conference for Lockette the following day, but did not specify the subject. Shortly thereafter, NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported via Twitter that the 29-year-old would announce his retirement after suffering a life-threatening neck injury last November.
That report was subsequently confirmed by seattlepi.com.
In a March radio interview, Lockette acknowledged his five-year NFL career could be coming to an end.
"It's a game," Lockette told 710 ESPN Seattle. "It's what we signed up for and that's what we do.
