RENTON -- In the biblical story, the diminutive David uses a slingshot to slay the giant Goliath. Seahawks safety Earl Thomas doesn't need a slingshot -- because he is one.
Taking the analogy further, Thomas is also David ... and Goliath.
Confused? Let me explain:
In the second quarter of Sunday's 31-24 win over the New England Patriots, the 5-foot-10, 202-pound Thomas laid out 6-foot-6, 265-pound New England tight end Rob Gronkowski with a perfectly timed, perfectly clean hit as Gronkowski attempted to haul in a deep ball from Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
"That's the way the game should be played right there," Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said during his Monday press conference at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center.
