Let’s get this out of the way first: I don’t think Kam Chancellor holding out was a good idea.
As has been pointed out over and over again the last few days, the 27-year-old — no doubt with input from agent Alvin Keels — seems to have massively overplayed his hand. Maybe he got bad advice, or maybe his attempt to secure more money from the Seahawks was plain misguided.
While it’s arguably true that Chancellor’s four-year, $28 million extension makes him undervalued in terms of what he brings to the Seahawks defense, “Bam Bam” is the best-paid player in the NFL at his position — strong safety, not free safety, which is key.
