49ers coordinator Robert Saleh learned coaching style from Pete Carroll

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh spent three seasons working for Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll as a defensive quality-control coach.

In those three years, Saleh learned the ins and outs of Carroll's attacking 4-3 defensive scheme, the same system that he is now using and putting his own spin on in his first coordinator job with the Niners.

But when asked this week about his biggest takeaway from working with Carroll, Saleh said it wasn't just about X's and O's.

“The biggest influence I took from coach Carroll is from a philosophy standpoint," Saleh said.
