Seattle Seahawks rumors on possible Bruce Irvin and Marquise Blair replacements, both on the current roster and in free agency. Bruce Irvin’s season-ending injury dealt a huge blow to the Seahawks’ pass rush. Could Jordyn Brooks or Shaquem Griffin step up to the plate for Seattle? Marquise Blair’s injury leaves a hole at the nickel spot, and NFL free agents like Tramon Williams and Tramaine Brock could serve as viable options.
Bruce Irvin replacements are tricky, because he filled a dual role: OLB and pass-rushing DE. Jordyn Brooks is the logical next man up for the Seattle Seahawks in the absence at LB. The rookie first-round pick out of Texas Tech will likely see his role expand with Irvin out for the year. Shaquem Griffin has found himself on the practice squad in his third season with the Seahawks, but has more game experience and could be promoted to the active roster.
Seattle Seahawks free agency could lead them to Clay Matthews as a short-term replacement for Bruce Irvin, as Matthews has tons of experience and gives Seattle another veteran in the front seven.
Marquise Blair replacements will likely just be an internal one. He was replaced by Ugo Amadi after he left Seattle’s week 2 matchup, and the Seahawks could roll with Amadi for the time being. However, veteran free agents such as Tramon Williams and Tramaine Brock could help stabilize the Seahawks secondary this season.
