Seahawks Post-Draft Depth Chart Projections

OTAs are starting around the NFL, which means it's time to take a look at how the Seattle Seahawks depth chart currently stands. The Seahawks aren't done making moves, they could still sign a player or two and their are roster cuts before the season, but this is a projection of how the depth chart currently looks.

Not every player on the roster will be listed, since there's no real need to include UDFAs who won't make the team. Instead, think of this as an expanded two-deep depth chart. And, with fall camp yet to begin, much can and probably will change. With that in mind, here's the current Seahawks' depth chart projection:

Quarterback
Starter:

Russell Wilson

Backups:
Austin Davis
Alex McGough (rookie)

No real surprise here. Seattle may look to add more depth behind Russell Wilson but this is his job.

Running Back
Starter:
Rashaad Penny (rookie)

Backups:
Chris Carson
Mike Davis
C.J. Prosise
J.D. McKissic

Seattle did not draft Rashaad Penny in the first round for him to come off the bench and head coach Pete Carroll said they believe Penny can be a three-down back for him. However, they have a lot of depth behind him that will make for one of the more intriguing battles during training camp.

Fullback
Starter:

Jalston Fowler

Backups:
Khalid Hill (rookie)

Seattle may not keep both fullbacks but both Fowler and Hill can play multiple positions. That versatility gives both a solid chance to make the roster.

Wide Receiver
Starters:
Doug Baldwin
Marcus Johnson
Tyler Lockett (slot)

Backups:
Jaron Brown
Tanner McEvoy
Amara Darboh
David Moore

Baldwin and Lockett are really the only players that are locked into their current roles. This group lacks depth and the Seahawks could add another veteran wideout before training camp.

Tight End
Starter:

Nick Vannett

Backups:
Ed Dickson
Will Dissly (rookie)
Tyrone Swoopes

This is a group that leaves a bit to be desired as they try to replace Jimmy Graham. Can the Seahawks find consistent production from any of them?

Offensive Line
Starters:
Duane Brown (left tackle)
Ethan Pocic (left guard)
Justin Britt (center)
D.J. Fluker (right guard)
Germain Ifedi (right tackle)

Backups:
Jamarco Jones (rookie)
Jordan Roos
Joey Hunt
Rees Odhiambo
George Fant

Seattle's offensive line has been terrible since they won the Super Bowl but this group has a chance to be solid. Depth is still a question but Wilson should feel somewhat confident about the five guys he has in front of him.

Defensive Line
Starters:
Frank Clark (defensive end)
Jarran Reed (defensive tackle)
Nazair Jones (defensive tackle)
Rasheem Green (defensive end) (rookie)

Backups:
Dion Jordan
Tom Johnson
Shamar Stephen
Branden Jackson
Jacob Martin (rookie)

This defense is going to look very different without Michael Bennett up front. They're relying on Rasheem Green to become a dynamic pass rusher and are hoping Dion Jordan can deliver on the promise that made him the No. 3 overall pick.

Linebackers
Starters:
Barkevious Mingo (outside linebacker)
Bobby Wagner (middle linebacker)
K.J. Wright (outside linebacker)

Backups:
Shaquem Griffin (rookie)
Emmanuel Beal
D.J. Alexander

The linebacking core will be the strongest part of the defense as long as Bobby Wagner is in the middle. Mingo needs to work on his consistency and Wright is a solid player, but expect the backups - particularly Griffin - to get a good amount of playing time.

Secondary
Starters:
Keiko Thorpe (cornerback)
Shaquill Griffin (cornerback)
Kam Chancellor (safety)
Earl Thomas (safety)

Backups:
Justin Coleman
Byron Maxwell
Deandre Elliott
Mike Tyson
Akeem King
Mo Alexander
Tre Flowers (rookie)

Earl Thomas is still the best safety in the league but the rest of the unit is very much up in the air. Neither young cornerback appears ready to be able to replace Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor is recovering from a neck injury. In my mind, this group is the biggest question mark on the roster.

Special Teams
Starters:
Sebastian Janikowski (kicker)
Michael Dickson (punter) (rookie)
Tyler Ott (long snapper)

Dickson was drafted in the fifth round and will unseat Jon Ryan as Seattle's punter.
