Cary Williams' stay with the Seattle Seahawks didn't last very long. The Seahawks cut Williams Monday, who they signed this offseason.
Seattle added Williams to replace Byron Maxwell, who signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. Williams started the team's first 10 games, but was benched in Week 11. He was inactive in the Seahawks' last two games and the team has now decided to part ways with him.
Williams received a 3-year, $18 million deal this offseason. That included $7 million in guarantees. The Seahawks will have just over $2.33 million in dead money on their cap next season for cutting Williams. Cutting him saved the team just under $4 million next season and $6 million in 2016.
Deshawn Snead is starting in place of Williams. Jeremy Lane returned in Week 12, after missing most the season with an injury he suffered in the Super Bowl. The Seahawks have yet to replace Williams on the active roster.
