Lockette was attempting to come back from a serious neck injury suffered on this hit from Dallas Cowboys safety Jeff Heath. He was not fined for the hit.
Lockette was an undrafted free agent out of Fort Valley State. Lockette suffered ligament damage to his neck on the hit. The collision nearly killed Lockette.
Mostly a special teams player, Lockette did contribute at times as a WR. He was the intended target on the pass in Super Bowl XLIX that was picked off by Malcolm Butler. Had Lockette not suffered the neck injury, he likely would have seen a bigger role this year.
The five-year NFL vet spent most of his time with the Seahawks, although he did briefly play on the Bears and 49ers' practice squads. He had 22 career receptions for 451 yards and four scores.
