The final week of the NFL regular season is here, and the Seattle Seahawks find themselves in the unfamiliar position of not having secured a playoff berth yet.
Five spots in the NFC have already been clinched, meaning the Seahawks are competing with the Atlanta Falcons for the sixth and final seed. Here's what needs to happen for them to make the playoffs:
- SEA win + ATL loss or tie OR
- SEA tie + ATL loss
Essentially, Seattle needs to win and have the Falcons lose. A loss to the Arizona Cardinals will immediately eliminate them, but the Seahawks say they're ready for the challenge.
“This team is not going to lie down easily. We could have easily taken the loss against the Rams, come back, pouted and moaned all throughout the week,” linebacker K.J. Wright said after Seattle's win over Dallas on Sunday. “But we are a group of guys that love to play ball and we know that we are a talented football team.”
The Seahawks won the season's first meeting against the Cardinals 22-16 in Glendale.
