Each year, several veterans end up getting cut or traded by their teams before the start of the regular season, and that will be the case again this season for Seattle Seahawks. They are expected to compete for a Super Bowl title again this year, but could pick youth over experience at a few spots.
There are a few veterans who might end up not being on the Seahawks' roster at the start of the season. That could come via a trade, or more likely, a release. With that in mind, here are three veterans who are on the bubble to make the team.
RB Christine Michael
Seattle traded Michael away before the start of the season, but re-signed him late in the year after Thomas Rawls suffered an injury. He played well, averaging nearly 4.4 yards per carry on 60 attempts with Seattle, which was enough for the Seahawks to sign him to another one-year deal. However, that deal contains no guaranteed money, and since they drafted three running backs, Michael could very well be on his way out.
C Patrick Lewis
Lewis was inconsistent and struggled throughout much of the 2015 season, especially in the playoffs, and that caused them to slide Justin Britt over to center to take his starting spot. If rookie Joey Hunt shows he can contribute in a backup capacity, Lewis will be gone.
TE Jimmy Graham
Easily the biggest surprise on this list, Graham certainly isn't safe. He was largely ineffective in Seattle's offensive system last year, and his inability to block was really exposed. Since he has no dead money on his contract and the Seahawks can save $8.9 million by cutting him, it's an option that's very much in play - especially if third-round pick Nick Vannett proves he can contribute right away.
