With the regular season over, the Seattle Seahawks have turned their attention to the offseason. The team's first priority is re-signing its own players, and the Seahawks have several key contributors they need to bring back next season, but also a few they could elect to get rid of. Here are three players the Seahawks may cut this offseason:
CB Jeremy Lane
Seattle's secondary actually become somewhat of a weak point once Earl Thomas went down with an injury, and it's a unit that may see a lot of turnover this year. Thomas, Richard Sherman and Kam Chancellor are obviously the mainstays, and Lane is the only other DB who is currently on the good for over $900K. By cutting him, the Seahawks would save $5.25 million.
DT Ahtyba Rubin
Rubin figures to be an interesting case. Seattle doesn't have many players they can cut that would create more cap space, but Rubin may be a candidate. Rookie Jarran Reed is emerging as Seattle's top defensive tackle, and in a draft loaded with defensive lineman, the Seahawks may decide to take another tackle and let Rubin walk. That would save Seattle $3.7 million.
TE Jimmy Graham
This is unlikely, but it also wouldn't be a shock. Graham is entering the last year of his contract and is owed $10 million, and there's no guarantee that he'll re-sign with Seattle once his contract is up. If they do decide to get rid of him, a trade is more likely, but cutting him would free up that cap space to spend elsewhere (like along the offensive line).
