The Seattle Seahawks are one of a handful of Super Bowl favorites, but their road to a championship just became a lot harder.
All-Pro safety Earl Thomas suffered a fractured tibia in Seattle's 40-7 win over the Panthers last night, and the injury will keep him out for the remainder of the season, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter:
Seahawks S Earl Thomas will be out for season and will not return for postseason, no matter how far Seattle advances.

Thomas suffered the injury after colliding with teammate Kam Chancellor. Head coach Pete Carroll confirmed that Thomas will not be back on the field at any point this season.
After being taken to the locker room after suffering the injury, Thomas tweeted that he was contemplating retirement:
This game has been so good to me no regrets.. A lot is running through my mind including retirement thanks for all the prayers.

Thomas had played in 106 straight games to start his career before suffering a hamstring injury that kept him out two weeks ago. He has 48 tackles with two interceptions and one fumble recovery in 11 games this season.
