Seahawks Rumors: Pete Carroll Remains Optimistic Despite "Shock" Of Super Bowl XLIX Loss

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has undoubtedly heard all of the noise surrounding the ill-fated Russell Wilson pass at the end of Super Bowl XLIX. However, it's the moment itself, not the words of others, that stings the most.

“It really hurt,” Carroll said, via Terry Blount of ESPN.com. “It hurt everybody. It was so sudden and so far off what should have happened for us. It’s something we have to deal with, but in the long run, it will make us stronger and we’ll be able to put it in some kind of perspective. I think we all understand that.”

That being said, Carroll says his players have the fortitude necessary to put their loss to the New England Patriots aside and focus on continuing to build what could still end being a modern dynasty.

“In my interactions with the players, their resolve and determination about where we’re going and what we’re doing is absolutely clear,’’ he said. “The future is very, very bright. This is a very young team that’s going all kinds of places and everybody knows that.

“But with that is the shock and disappointment that this game got away from us at the finish line," he added. "It was so close to being on the other end of the spectrum, but it’s something we have to live with.”
