Down one wide receiver due to injury heading into Sunday's game at the Carolina Panthers, the Seattle Seahawks have promoted third-year wideout Phil Bates from their practice squad for the game, per a team announcement.
According to Mike Wilkening of Pro Football Talk, "the 25-year-old Bates was inactive for the Seahawks’ season-opening win vs. the Packers. The club waived him the day after the game, then re-signed him to the practice squad, where he had remained since."
After signing Bates, the Seahawks now have six healthy wide receivers for Sunday's contest. The seventh receiver on the squad, Bryan Walters, was ruled out due to a concussion. The Seahawks dressed six receivers last week in St. Louis, and all six saw snaps in the Seahawks' road loss.
To make room for Bates, Seattle placed fullback Derrick Coleman on injured reserve due to a foot injury. Robert Turbin will take over the blocking back duties for the Seahawks for Sunday's game.
