The Seattle Seahawks appear to have no plans to keep Marshawn Lynch beyond the 2014 season, despite his recent string of outstanding performances.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday morning that the Seahawks are still intent on moving on from Lynch after the season, stating that "everything I'm being told by people involved in the situation, nothing has changed with the Seahawks' plans."
So far this season, Lynch has rushed for 689 yards and nine touchdowns through the first nine games.
Seattle has drafted a running back two of the last three years in Robert Turbin (2012) and Christine Michael (2013), but it remains to be seen if either of them would take over for Lynch starting next season.
One name to watch, as Rapoport suggests, is Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon, who broke the NCAA single-game rushing record over the weekend.
Lynch still has another year on his contract, but if Seattle can find a team willing to take Lynch - or simply release him - the Seahawks would be in the market to draft from a running back class that is expected to be deep in 2015.
Lynch will still be in a Seahawks uniform for at least seven more games as the 2014 season winds down.
