Loucheiz Purifoy's time with the Seattle Seahawks has come to an abrupt end before Purifoy could even suit up for the team.
Per Curtis Crabtree of NBC's Pro Football Talk, "the Seahawks waived Purifoy on Monday after failing a physical with the team. Seattle had claimed him off waivers from the Indianapolis Colts on Friday."
The Seahawks added Purifoy to the roster after the team placed linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis on season-ending injured reserve with a shoulder injury. According to head coach Pete Carroll, Pierre-Louis will need surgery in order to repair an injured labrum.
A former member of the Florida Gators, Purifoy was selected over Marcus Burley to remain with the Indianapolis Colts out of training camp. Purifoy appeared in 11 games with the Colts, amassing five tackles (two solo) on special teams for Indianapolis.
Pete Carroll told reporters on Monday that the team is currently evaluating options for the roster spot that waiving Purifoy has opened.
