The defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks continue to lock up the core of their defense to lucrative long-term contract extensions, with defensive end Cliff Avril the latest to cash in.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Seahawks have just agreed to give Avril a four-year extension worth $28.5 million ($16 million of which is guaranteed):

The 28-year-old Avril has been a productive force for the team from a pass rush standpoint. He is the second member of the team's vaunted defense to be handed a long-term deal in the past 24 hours, with linebacker KJ Wright also having broken the bank with a four-year deal on Thursday.
With Russell Wilson likely to pick up a mega-extension sometime next year, the Seahawks have made sure to focus on their defense first this season before entering negotiations with Wilson down the road.
