In Seahawks news today, contract details between the Seattle Seahawks and star safety Earl Thomas have just been released, complete with mind-boggling numbers for a top-tier safety.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Earl Thomas is guaranteed to make almost 70% of his projected base salary over a new four-year extension:
The #Seahawks four-year extension for safety Earl Thomas pays him $40 million base value with $27.725 million guaranteed, source says.

Earl Thomas has been one of the centerpieces of a very young and talented Seattle Seahawks secondary which is now reaching the point of graduating from cheap young talent to well-paid defensive stalwarts in their prime.
Cornerback Richard Sherman has also been in negotiations with the team on a long-term extension. However, at this point, the two sides have reached a slight impasse. This doesn't mean that a deal won't get done, but it could wait until after the Seahawks finalize their approach to the 2014 NFL Draft.
