Philadelphia got on the board first with a touchdown late in the first quarter, but Seattle's defense dominated the game from that point on. The Seahawks took a 10-7 lead into halftime, and then put up two quick touchdowns in the third quarter as they held on for the victory.
Turning Point:
Philly's offense showed signs of life as quarterback Mark Sanchez hit tight end Zach Ertz for a 35 yard touchdown pass early in the third quarter to cut the lead to three. However, Seattle responded with a 91-yard touchdown drive of their own on the ensuing possession, taking control back.
Key Stat:
The Seahawks' defense was absolutely incredible, as they held the Eagles' explosive offense attack - which averaged 416.2 yards per game coming into the season - to just 139 total yards.
Seattle MVP:
Quarterback Russell Wilson had a big game for the Seahawks, passing for 263 yards and two touchdowns along with 48 rushing yards and another score. Seattle's defense also gets a mention.
Philadelphia MVP:
Philly's offense was atrocious, so we have to turn to the defensive side of the ball where defensive end Fletcher Cox had a good game with 11 tackles.
What’s Next?
Seattle returns home to host rival San Francisco next weekend, while Philadelphia will try to get back on track against the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football.
