Even after Seattle's wild week, no one in the state of Washington saw this coming.
The Rams used a huge game from QB Charlie Austin and two clever plays on special teams to send the defending champions to their second straight loss.
Turning Point:
This one was decided by an incredibly risky fake punt call with just over two minutes left in the fourth quarter - the Rams converted, and managed to hold on for an improbable upset win.
Key Stat:
The Rams won the game, but the Seahawks will feel robbed after outgaining St. Louis 463 yards to 272. You won't hear anyone in the Rams locker room complaining about that discrepancy, though.
Play of the Game:
St. Louis scored their third touchdown of the day on a clever fakeout - Tavon Austin made it look like he was getting ready to field a Seattle punt, but the ball was actually headed to Stedman Bailey's side of the field. With most of Seattle's coverage unit tracking Austin, Bailey took the kick 90 yards to the house.
Rams MVP:
Bradford who? Austin Davis was immense for the Rams, completing 18/21 passes for 152 yards and 2 TDs. It was an unprecedented, highly impressive performance against an elite defense, and while he wasn't taking major risks, he still did well to play mistake-free football.
Seahawks MVP:
QB Russell Wilson did everything he could to drag Seattle back into the game, and none of the blame for this loss falls at his feet. Wilson was personally responsible for 419 of Seattle's 463 offensive yards, and had three touchdowns (two passing, one rushing) on the day.
What’s Next?
The Rams kick off a three-game road trip with a visit to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Seahawks will try to ignore the Percy Harvin fallout (and resulting media attention) as they head to Carolina to take on the reeling Panthers, who were dismantled by Aaron Rodgers and the Packers this weekend.
