It's been two years since the Seattle Seahawks won the Super Bowl, but they're still one of the NFL's elite. However, they aren't satisfied with just being a good team - they've had a taste of Super Bowl success, and they'll stop at nothing to get it back. Here are four reasons why the Seahawks will win the Super Bowl this season:
4) Russell Wilson's greatness
Russell Wilson's athleticism and on-field decision making are fantastic enough. However, it's his unflappable confidence and beyond-his-years veteran presence which puts this team over the top. There's no quarterback in this league who goes about his business quite like Russell Wilson does, and that uniqueness is essential to what this whole Seahawks operation is all about.
3) Pete Carroll
With Pete Carroll at the helm, Seattle will never fall behind the eight ball when it comes to in-game shifts in planning. If constant variations of the QB read option are getting the job done, he'll make it happen. If the team needs to shift gears and air it out, he has the innate ability to pick it up right before the opposing team catches on. He's got the chops and the talent to counter any in-game difficulty with ease, which we've seen do wonders for the Seahawks in the postseason.
2) Championship defense
The Seahawks defense has found its sea legs once again after an uneven start to the 2015 season, and that's going to spell trouble for anyone who gets in their way this postseason. Once Seattle gets their intimidating pass rush moving, the Legion of Boom gets that much tougher to shake on the back end.
Would you bet against this Seahawks defense against any offense going today? I certainly wouldn't.
1) Who's better than them?
There have been several dominant teams in the NFL over the past few years, but this year, the field is as wide open as ever. The Broncos have MAJOR quarterback questions, the Panthers will likely take a step back because of their depleted secondary, the Patriots still don't have a running game and question marks all over their defense and the Packers have big questions of their own on defense.
Seattle will come into the season as perhaps the favorite to win the Super Bowl, and rightfully so. They look like the most complete team (on paper) in the league.
