The Seattle Seahawks are trying to rebound after a disappointing loss to the Rams last weekend, and they would love nothing more than to get their season back on track with a win over their bitter rivals in San Francisco. Here are three reasons why they'll do just that:
3) 49ers lack of a passing game
Just by looking at the roster, you could probably tell the 49ers were going to struggle to throw the ball this season. Blaine Gabbert isn't exactly a world-beater under center, and Quinton Patten and Jeremy Kerley are two of their starting receivers. They rank in the bottom five in passing yards per game - a sign they won't be able to move the ball against this defense.
2) Dominant defense
Seattle has led the NFL in scoring defense each of the last four seasons, and they're well on their way to doing so again. They have yet to give up more than 10 points in a game, and rank first in the league in points allowed per game - by a wide margin. Michael Bennett, Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor & Co. are playing at an incredibly high level, and will have a field day playing against an offense with as few weapons as San Francisco.
1) Home-field advantage
Simply put, beating the Seahawks in Seattle is one of the toughest things to do in the NFL. They are 32-5 at CenturyLink Field, including playoffs, since the start of the 2012, one of the most dominant stretches in league history. Furthermore, the Seahawks have won seven of the last eight games in the series against the 49ers, including five in a row. Expect that dominance to continue this weekend.
