The Seattle Seahawks are in the playoffs for the fifth straight year, and have their sights set on winning another Super Bowl. While that's still far down the road, the journey starts against the Lions. Here are three reasons why the Seahawks are guaranteed to win the game:
3) Matthew Stafford's injury
The biggest reason for Detroit's recent struggles offensively has been Matthew Stafford's finger injury (torn ligaments in middle finger). He suffered the injury against the Bears and put up in his worst performances of the season in their last three games - all losses - throwing an interception in every game. With that injury obviously bothering him, the Lions will likely struggle again - especially against a defense as good as Seattle's.
2) Russell Wilson in big games
Russell Wilson's athleticism and on-field decision making are fantastic enough. However, it's his unflappable confidence and beyond-his-years veteran presence which puts this team over the top. He's at his best when his best his needed, especially late in the season. Wilson has led 20 fourth-quarter comebacks in his career, so if this game is close at the end, you know who is going to win it.
1) Seahawks home-field advantage
Simply put, beating the Seahawks in Seattle is one of the toughest things to do in the NFL. They are 38-6 at CenturyLink Field, including playoffs, since the start of the 2012, one of the most dominant stretches in league history. That includes a 7-1 mark this year. Furthermore, Detroit has struggled mightily on the road, going just 3-5. The crowd will definitely play an impact, one that will give the Seahawks a big edge.
