Zoning in on the 2016 Mariners
It was the first trade of the 2016 offseason, the first trade of Jerry Dipoto’s era in Seattle—and it was a big one. Brad Miller, Logan Morrison and Danny Farquhar for Nathan Karns, C.J. Riefenhauser and Boog Powell.
With that, Dipoto began to execute on a strategy he began expressing day one on the job and continued to repeat over the offseason, building a club better-suited to take advantage of Safeco Field.
He’d go on to acquire more, but in that deal he picked up his first athlete tabbed to eventually roam the outfield in Boog Powell.
