Tough night for Mariners pitchers in 12-5 loss

SEATTLE (AP) — If they didn't already know it, Mayckol Guaipe and David Rollins are both well aware now how tough it is to pitch in the big leagues.

The rookie Seattle relievers allowed a combined seven runs in one-plus inning as the Detroit Tigers pounced on the bullpen for a 12-5 win Monday.

"It's going to be a tough night for them, as it is for the rest of us, but it's not an easy league," interim Mariners manager Trent Jewett said. "There are tough tasks and we'll find out about these guys.
