FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP - All throughout her childhood in Freehold, Lori DeFalco spent time at her father’s barber shop in town.
“Once a week, my two older sisters and I would help out there, cleaning the floor, straightening up the magazinesand sneaking gum out of the special treats drawer,” recalled the 52-year-old Point Pleasant resident of the shop her father John, who’d been a barber in Italy, started in 1968 in Freehold Township with business partner Leon Scherer and took full ownership of in 1984.
When a high school guidance counselor recommended that she consider joining her father’s business after graduation, “I decided to give it a try,” she said.
