SEATTLE -- Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto is moving quickly again this offseason as Seattle is acquiring catcher Carlos Ruiz from the Dodgers, according to multiple reports Sunday.
Neither club has confirmed the trade, which originally was reported by MLB Network insider Jon Heyman. MLB.com's Jon Paul Morosi confirmed from a source that Ruiz waived his no-trade clause, and MLB Network insider Joel Sherman says the Dodgers are receiving a pitcher off Seattle's 40-man roster in return.
Ruiz, who turns 38 in January, would give Seattle a veteran catcher to work in tandem with Mike Zunino.
