Shed Long entered the 2019 season having never played above Double-A. Not only did Long get 250 plate appearances with Triple-A Tacoma this season, he played in more than 40 games with the Mariners, gaining experience that will be valuable to him as he develops into an everyday player in the Majors.
It was only six years ago that Long made his professional debut with Cincinnati’s rookie-level Arizona League team at the age of 17 after being selected by the Reds in the 12th round of the 2013 MLB Draft out of Jacksonville High School in Alabama. It was only four years ago that Long began converting from a catcher to a second baseman.
