KANSAS CITY -- The Mariners were in need of a solid Felix Hernandez start. They got that plus a hot night from shortstop Jean Segura in rolling to an 8-3 victory over the Royals on Tuesday to even the three-game series at Kauffman Stadium.
Segura was a home run shy of the cycle in going 3-for-5 with two RBIs, while Hernandez bounced back from a rough start in San Francisco to hold the Royals to six hits and three runs over 5 2/3 innings, as he improved to 2-1 with a 6.60 ERA in three outings.
