Thompson excelled during his first professional season in 2015. The Mariners opted to send him to their affiliate in the Arizona Developmental League. Thompson dominated, going 2-1 and posting a 2.36 ERA across 26.2 innings of work. He started 5 contests and appeared in an additional 4 games as a reliever.
