Seattle Mariners second baseman Dee Gordon on Thursday was named the recipient of the 2020 Hutch Award.
The honor, in its 55th year, is given to one MLB player each year for charitable efforts off the field. Gordon becomes the fifth Hutch Award honoree who's played for the Mariners, joining John Olerud (1993), Omar Vizquel (1996), Jamie Moyer (2003), Mike Sweeney (2007) and Raul Ibanez (2013).
"This award has an incredible history, and I'm grateful to be a part of its legacy," Gordon said in a statement. "I believe it's our duty as professional athletes to give back to the communities that support us.
