Seattle Mariners recall RHP Taijuan Walker, option RHP Cody Martin

In a move to bolster the starting rotation, the Mariners recalled right-hander Tajuan Walker from Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday and optioned right-hander Cody Martin to the Rainiers.

Walker will start Tuesday night against the Yankees at Safeco Field (7:10 p.m) in what marks his first big-league appearance since being optioned earlier this month to work on pitching deeper into games. After a couple rough outings with the Rainiers, the 24-year-old tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings last week in Nashville.

In 2016, Walker is 4-7 with a 4.10 ERA in 17 starts in the big leagues. He's dominated at times, but also struggled with an ankle injury and consistency.
