The Seattle Mariners announced Monday that CEO and Team President Kevin Mather has resigned, effective immediately, following comments at a recent online event in which he disparaged current and former players, and divulged opinions on sensitive club information in regards to organizational strategy.
“Like all of you, I was extremely disappointed when I learned of Kevin Mather’s recent comments,” Mariners Chairman & Managing Partner John Stanton said in a lengthy statement. “His comments were inappropriate and do not represent our organization’s feelings about our players, staff, and fans.
