Seattle Mariners outfielder Braden Bishop is taking advantage of an opportunity to support Washington firefighters battling wildfires across the state.
The 27-year-old Bishop will be wearing cleats inspired by local burger chain Dick’s Drive-In, with the $1,000 gift certificate he recoups as part of his agreement with the franchise to be used to feed Washington firefighters.
Dick’s put out a “cleat challenge” to the Mariners via social media late last week, after the Mariners’ Dee Strange-Gordon recently sported custom-designed cleats with the In-N-Out logo, a rival chain.
So Dick’s, as the local chain, reached out to the Mariners, asking if any player wanted to sport cleats inspired in their likeness and receive a $1,000 gift certificate pledge.
