The Seattle Mariners on Friday claimed reliever Taylor Williams off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers and designated reliever Phillips Valdez on assignment in a corresponding move.

Williams, 28, posted a 2-4 record with a 5.23 ERA,and 76 strikeouts in 71 relief appearances across three seasons with the Brewers (2017-19). In 10 appearances with Milwaukee last year, the right-handed reliever went 1-1 with 15 strikeouts. He spent most of 2019 with Triple-A San Antonio (3-3, 2.83 ERA, 46 games).
