Seattle Mariners CF Bishop juggling health in wake of virus with desire to play, prove himself

Seattle Mariners center fielder Braden Bishop has his concerns about returning to baseball at this time. He’s taking the novel coronavirus pandemic seriously. It has touched his family, after all.

But he’s also at a pivotal juncture in his career — as an older, inexperienced player coming off an underwhelming debut in the majors last year. Health crisis or not, the 2020 season is critical to his future in Major League Baseball.

So for now, he plans to play — as long as the MLB is comfortable moving forward with its 60-game schedule.

“Yeah, I mean I’m definitely concerned,” Bishop told reporters Monday.
