The Seattle Mariners announced this week their player development and minor league coaching staffs for the 2021 season.
“Our 2021 version of the player development staff is the best that we have had over the last six years,” Mariners Director of Player Development Andy McKay said in a statement Wednesday. “That commitment that they have shown to continuing education, personal growth, and serving our players is exceptional.”
Franklin Gutiérrez — a former Mariners outfielder (2009-16) and Gold Glove winner with the club (2010) — will begin his first season as a Special Assignment coach, joining ex-Mariners All-Star outfielder Mike Cameron and team Hall of Famers Alvin Davis and Dan Wilson in the role.
