Robinson Canó Homers, Earns All-Star Game MVP

With a go-ahead solo home run in the top of the 10th inning tonight in Miami, Robinson Canó propelled the American League to a 2–1 win over the National League in the 88th All-Star Game, earning the Ted Williams Most Valuable Player Award. Canó becomes the 3rd Mariner in club history to be named MVP in the Midsummer Classic, joining Ken Griffey Jr. in 1992 (at San Diego) and Ichiro Suzuki in 2007 (at San Francisco).

Canó is the 5th Mariner to homer in the All-Star Game, the first since Ichiro’s inside-the-park homer at the 2007 Midsummer Classic in San Francisco.
