Rick’s Toys for Kids Goes Shopping

Volunteers from some two dozen organizations will spend around $200,000 this week on holiday gifts for kids in need around the greater Seattle area.

Armed with shopping lists for kids that are hospitalized, in foster care, homeless or just in need of cheering up, volunteers converged on Toys R Us in Bellevue to spend money raised by Toys for Kids, a nonprofit organization founded over 20 years ago by Rick Rizzs and Dave Henderson.

They loaded up shopping cart after shopping cart with stuffed bears, Legos, games, model cars and more. The receipt for one group’s goodies was over six-feet-long.
