The Seattle Mariners' bullpen depth took a hit when it was revealed Monday that relievers Ryan Cook and Evan Scribner were dealing with right lat injuries.
While Scribner could return in time for the regular season, Cook apparently has a tear, according to a Seattle Times report. The Mariners traded minor-league right-hander Trey Cochran-Gill to the Athletics on December 8 for Scribner, who went 2-2 with a 4.35 ERA in 54 appearances last year with Oakland.
Scribner has twice torn his lat muscle, most recently last August, which ended his season. He apparently felt some tightness in that area during a bullpen last week, though he maintained it didn't feel anything like when he tore his lat last season.
