Seattle Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano is in the midst of the worst season of his major league career, and a Sunday report may help explain why.
In a story for USA Today, Jorge L. Ortiz revealed that the 32-year-old Cano has been dealing with stomach issues for nearly a year, including chronic acid reflux after treatment for a “common parasite” in October.
Ortiz wrote that the six-time All-Star was reluctant to talk about the stomach issue because he didn’t want it to sound like he was making excuses for a poor first-half performance — Cano is hitting 62 points lower than his career .
