Manny Acta will join the Seattle Mariners as third base coach, according to a Monday report from ESPN's Buster Olney.
After a stint as an analyst on Baseball Tonight, Acta joins hitting coach Edgar Martinez, the only remaining member of Lloyd McClendon's staff, pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre Jr. and bench coach Tim Bogar under first-year manager Scott Servais. The Mariners have yet to hire a first base coach or bullpen coach.
Acta, 46, served as the Washington Nationals' manager from 2007-09, when he compiled a 158-252 record before getting fired about midway into his third year in the nation's capital.
