Dave Sims, the Seattle Mariners' television play-by-play announcer, underwent surgery for prostate cancer Jan. 15, according to MLB.com.
Sims, who turns 63 this month, told Mariners beat reporter Greg Johns he plans to be ready for spring training and that his "pathology reports are all clean."
The cancer was detected after Sims went in for a physical before Thanksgiving. It showed abnormal levels for a prostate-specific antigen. After follow-up tests, his prostate was removed.
"We found it pretty early and were pretty aggressive and got it out of there," Sims said in the story.
