Agent Bart Hernandez was arrested Friday on human-trafficking charges that stemmed from center fielder Leonys Martin's defection from Cuba in August 2010, per a report from Yahoo Sports.
Hernandez was indicted Feb. 12 by a Florida grand jury and will appear Friday at a U.S. District Court in Miami. He could face up to 20 years in prison, with a minimum sentence of three years, on conspiracy and financial gain charges.
Hernandez has been accused for working with smugglers that kidnapped Martinez and his family, holding him at gunpoint in a hotel room in Mexico, while Hernandez and his associates negotiated Martin's five-year, $15.
