The 46-year-old Acta managed the Nationals from 2007-09 then the Indians from 2010-12. He was most recently an analyst for ESPN.

Acta would be the third new member of Seattle's coaching staff under first-year manager Scott Servais, joining bench coach Tim Bogar and pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre, Jr. Hitting coach Edgar Martinez is the one holdover on staff, as first base/infield coach Chris Woodward announced last week he won't return because he wants to be closer to his family in Florida.
