Dr. Lorena Martin, the Mariners' ex-Director of High Performance who leveled explosive allegations of racism and sexism against key personnel in the club last month, has officially sued her former employer, according to reports.
Martin filed a wrongful-termination lawsuit against the Mariners in King County Superior Court on Wednesday, per the Seattle Times. The lawsuit alleges that Martin reported gender and racial discrimination to team ownership as far back as March. The suit directly opposes statements released by the Mariners saying that her claims are "ludicrous," that she didn't reach out to the club's Human Resources department to express concerns and that no one in the organization even knew of her allegations until after she was relieved of her duties in October.
